Akron Chapter Testimonials

Current Mentee

I was homeless, hopeless, addicted to crack cocaine and I had very low self-esteem. Being a mentee with Priscilla's Lost and Found gave me hope and helped me to feel good about myself. I thank God for my mentor and this ministry.

Previous Mentee

My plight started in Cleveland in the year of '95. I lived with a man for three years prior to my home1essness. I had two children and was pregnant with my third child. My bad choice of living with him brought on a wilderness rendezvous with Satan and his stripping me of everything and almost took my life. We were engaged, but in my heart I was satisfied with just moving in with him. My family alienated me after helping me for a short while. Eventually I lost my children. I had nowhere to go. After staying in bus terminals, downtown Tower City, walking the streets, starving over a period of four years, in the hospital for four months, and missing my kids some kind of terrible, my niece who lived in Akron let me live with her for six months. She got tired and put me out. One day I had a doctor's appointment and I talked to a social worker and she blessed my life by recommending the Haven of Rest to me.

At the Haven of Rest I attended Bible study conducted by Arnetta Bailey. Arnetta took an interest in me and invited me to Arlington Church of God on May 6, 2000, to hear her speak on Women's Day. Then she invited me to become a part of Priscilla's Lost and Found. I attended the retreat, which was very therapeutic for me. Priscilla's played a major part in the restoration of my life.

My spiritual birthday is April 17, 2004. I now attend Arlington Church of God and I volunteer there. I also volunteered at the Haven of Rest for a year and a half. I see my kids often. My 21-year-old got saved last month. My 14- and 7-year-olds are also saved. I thank God for the people, places and things used to save me, including Arlington Church of God, Haven of Rest, Arnetta Bailey, and Priscilla's Lost and Found.
