Akron Chapter
Akron, Ohio, is the birthplace of Priscilla's Lost and Found and home of the Akron Chapter. In May 2000, the former director of this chapter and current National Director of Priscilla's Lost and Found, Rev. Arnetta McNeese Bailey, founded this ministry, which started as a local ministry.
In six years the Akron Chapter grew to include 35 mentees, 40 mentors, 20 volunteers and boosters, and 15 associated agencies. This chapter has received financial support from several local churches, agencies and individuals in the community and has conducted several profitable fundraisers. We have an ongoing relationship with Haven of Rest and Access who supply us with the majority of our mentees.
The activities of this chapter include:
- Participation in The National Night Out, an Open House at Arlington Church of God
- Monthly mentor/mentee outings
- Bible study at local shelters and prisons
- Annual Christmas get-together
- Picnics
- Life skills presentations
Future projects include:
- Training workshops for mentees and mentors
- Group mentoring
- Continuing education presentations
- Health fair
- Mentee/mentor recognition banquet
In June of 2002, Arnetta was blessed to join the staff of the National Women of the Church of God in Anderson, Ind. In July 2002, Kathleen Turner replaced Arnetta as the Director of the Akron Chapter of Priscilla's Lost and Found. In 2006, LaShon Campbell brought a revitalization to the ministry and became its newest director. Under her leadership, along with the dedicated, faithful women God hand picked to be a part of this chapter and God's guidance, the Akron Chapter of Priscilla's Lost and Found has continued to grow and touch the lives of women in need.
